{"id":16180,"date":"2024-11-20T10:46:49","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T16:46:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/eschool\/?page_id=16180"},"modified":"2025-09-23T12:34:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T17:34:38","slug":"alternative-academic-course-of-study","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kusd.edu\/eschool\/policy\/alternative-academic-course-of-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternative Academic Course of Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following guidelines shall be followed when determining the optimal Academic Course of Study for students with non-traditional or alternative graduation plans, such as returning seniors or Competency Graduation (ITED).<\/p>\n<h3>Academic Plan and Course of Study<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The eSchool Program Principal shall establish the criteria by which students are assigned to Academic Course of Study.<\/li>\n<li>Placement in an Academic Course of Study will be based on several factors including: age, academic performance, previous standardized testing scores, and credits earned.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc\">\n<li>Returning Seniors (students whose Cohort year has graduated) will have the option of being placed into remaining graduation requirements as long as there are 4 or fewer credits remaining, or being assigned to the ITED Course of Study.<\/li>\n<li>Returning Seniors with a deficiency of more than 4 credits will be assigned to the ITED Course of Study.<\/li>\n<li>Seniors (current Cohort year) with a deficiency of 8 or more credits must earn at least 4 credits during the first semester of their Senior year to remain in the traditional Academic Course of Study. Seniors who do not earn 4 credits by the end of Semester 1 will be assigned to the ITED Course of Study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Requests to be assigned to or removed from an Academic Course of Study must be approved by the eSchool Program Principal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Competency Graduation (ITED) Eligibility:<\/strong> A credit deficient student who is at least 17 years of age who has been enrolled in a high school cohort group for more than three years (a student with a summer birthday would be able to take the exam with the spring testing group if they attended high school for more than three years with their peers) may also successfully complete the District Competency Graduation Requirements or a comparable program to earn a District diploma.
